Whimsical Illustrations by LDG

  • I had forgotten I wrote a little something in 2007 about where to sell and buy your art online. Updated to express any changes in sites I currently sell on or use to print my art.

Zazzle – Still a very good place to upload and sell your art without any upfront costs. Lots of options from stickers, tees, bandanas, prints, gift bags and more. They have online options for customers to get some cards in E-format. You make a sale but a bit less than the physical cards.

Threadless – Free to upload your art to sell on various things from tees to socks and prints. They have contests too for those who like to design. You can win some good money there. I haven’t personally won any of the contests but some of the winning designs are impressive.

TeePublic – Free to upload your art to sell on tees, stickers, buttons, magnets and more.

Fine Art America / Pixels – Free to join at the basic level. Limited to about 10 to 20 free listings. Prints, canvases, greeting cards and more to add your art to.

Greeting Card Universe – Free to join, no upfront fees. Customers send requests to site about what they want in a greeting card. It gets listed on the forum for members to see. If you want to make a design for the idea, you create it to place in your shop then add the link on the forum post, the customer gets to pick which one(s) they like and the site owners let you know if you were picked or not. Meanwhile, any card designs you make that are approved can be added to your own individual card store. You can also make custom items if someone contacts you directly. Payment is every 3 to 4 months if you make $50 or more. Minimum earned per card is usually around 10 cents a sale.

Redbubble – No limit on designs. Lots of options with stickers, tees and more. There may be some tiers that are fee based currently.

Avery – The company most recognize as making printable sheets for your printers, they have an online shop to buy your art. I took part in a promo for 10 huge stickers (6 inches I think) and they came out BEAUTIFULLY! So if you need some good custom printing, this is your place.

I have no affiliate links for these sites unless you want to visit my personal pages to buy my art. I’d be ever so grateful. 🙂 https://linktr.ee/elledeegee

    Thanks for reading.

  • Well my mother has been asking me to send her lots of samples of my art as prints, postcards, greeting cards and much more. Here are some samples of what she ordered:

    Girl of Cranes – Framed

    Winter Mermaiden – Cafepress Framing

    Mesmerized Mermaiden – Framed

    Mermaid Goddess – Cafepress Tile

I have a few more pictures I will add later. These were mainly the prints framed and unframed my mother bought. She also bought a few tiles, stamps and greeting cards. I was really impressed how good they came out over all. Zazzle and Cafepress have some good deals off and on if you keep an eye out.

  • I think this is one of the best ideas ever! Even better than the awful minimalist artwork they allowed on sneakers (if you used Adobe Illustrator) for Spreadshirt’s European site. What’s the idea you ask?

Zazzle is now allowing sellers AND buyers to personalize their very own style of Keds sneakers! You can from three different styles in Womens’, Mens’ and kids’ sizes and fill the palette with your own unique design. It’s just one of those things they threw out suddenly this week and I’m all over it! I really want to make a mermaid shoe for my mom. I’m looking for the right design to add. Check out these designs I’ve put in already:

    Blueshoes

“Blue City Sneakers” – LDG 2008

    Grapeshoes

    “Summer Grapes Slip-on” – LDG 2008

I’m still working on finding some pics I have to use as backgrounds and such. This is going to be a real learning experience. 😀

I’ve spoken about Imagekind in the past as a great site to go and get nice prints framed or otherwise. You can check out my previous post about my buying my own print framed. It was a good experience. 😀

  • For Doc Marten Contest
    For Doc Marten Contest

This is one of my entries (the best one actually) for the Doc Marten boot contest. I found out by accident about this when someone was nice enough to compliment me at Zazzle about something I recently added to my shop there. She had a link to her own boot design so I gave it a go. If you could all vote for me, I’d appreciate it. 😀

I’m also waiting for news about where and when my piece of art I contributed to There is going to be on display. I haven’t heard much since they told me I won. I’ve already begun spending the money on my avvie. LOL She hasn’t had anything new in a while I think. She has more stuff than I do. ;P

If you hear of any good contests, let me know. I’m always up to for a new place to showplace my art.

    Thanks for reading!

  • I was checking my email today and received this:

    Congratulations!

You have won for best RL Medium image in the Summer Art Fair Contest! You will recieve your prize soon, and we will submit your work of art as a developer item free of charge! We will contact you soon to let you know when your item will be available.

    Way to go!

    The There Community Team

So I was a winner and my artwork will be displayed in the game. 😀 The problem is… I’m trying to recall what I sent in. LOL I think it was my Bird Girl aka Girl of Cranes geisha print. Geesh, you’d think I’d remember what I sent in. I might check my sent msgs as I usually send a copy of contests and important stuff back to me.

When I get a screenie of the art, I’ll show it here.

    ~L~

PS, just checked my sent mail… it was my Geisha Year of the Rat image that won. 😀

    WHEEE for me!

  • I don’t think this qualifies as a real art contest, I think it’s more of a promotional site that pays for quality artworks.

Comozo Art Contest asks for illustrators and artists to send in their designs. Once received they judge either through the site (or other means) how popular a piece is and then award the chosen a limited print edition contract (200 in the edition) to print said artwork as a high quality canvas giclée prints. Chosen artist receives a set of 200 “certificates of authenticity” to sign and return for said artwork.

Sounds like a pretty good deal in my opinion and they seem to pay pretty well up to US  $4600 or $3000 Euros. It’s a European site, I think french from the sound of it, and seems to be all and all legit. Heck who wouldn’t mind making up to that kind of cash from a sale of 200 limited edition prints?!? I know I wouldn’t mind much.
