  • I had forgotten I wrote a little something in 2007 about where to sell and buy your art online. Updated to express any changes in sites I currently sell on or use to print my art.

Zazzle – Still a very good place to upload and sell your art without any upfront costs. Lots of options from stickers, tees, bandanas, prints, gift bags and more. They have online options for customers to get some cards in E-format. You make a sale but a bit less than the physical cards.

Threadless – Free to upload your art to sell on various things from tees to socks and prints. They have contests too for those who like to design. You can win some good money there. I haven’t personally won any of the contests but some of the winning designs are impressive.

TeePublic – Free to upload your art to sell on tees, stickers, buttons, magnets and more.

Fine Art America / Pixels – Free to join at the basic level. Limited to about 10 to 20 free listings. Prints, canvases, greeting cards and more to add your art to.

Greeting Card Universe – Free to join, no upfront fees. Customers send requests to site about what they want in a greeting card. It gets listed on the forum for members to see. If you want to make a design for the idea, you create it to place in your shop then add the link on the forum post, the customer gets to pick which one(s) they like and the site owners let you know if you were picked or not. Meanwhile, any card designs you make that are approved can be added to your own individual card store. You can also make custom items if someone contacts you directly. Payment is every 3 to 4 months if you make $50 or more. Minimum earned per card is usually around 10 cents a sale.

Redbubble – No limit on designs. Lots of options with stickers, tees and more. There may be some tiers that are fee based currently.

Avery – The company most recognize as making printable sheets for your printers, they have an online shop to buy your art. I took part in a promo for 10 huge stickers (6 inches I think) and they came out BEAUTIFULLY! So if you need some good custom printing, this is your place.

I have no affiliate links for these sites unless you want to visit my personal pages to buy my art. I’d be ever so grateful. 🙂 https://linktr.ee/elledeegee

    Thanks for reading.

  • So I went to WineStyles today… and nobody was there!!! Apparently someone changed the meeting time to 11 am but didn’t inform anyone else. So nobody showed up for the last art show of the year at that locale and by noon or so they had all gone, the few of those I guess who showed… Atleast that’s what the girl at WineStyles told me. 😦 So that means I stayed up printing out new business cards and samples and stuff to pass around for “Nothing!!!” UGH!!! I’m already sort of in a pissy mood for other reasons but this just topped it off. Plus this was supposed to be our opportunity to get stuff to one of the organizers for some art event happening on Tuesday or Wednesday. I can’t go cause I work and I can’t take off for it since unlike my other coworkers, I only really take off for one vacation a year, major holidays and important stuff like if I was sick or someone died. I don’t call in sick then go do “gigs” elsewhere. I really don’t want to lose my day job.

Well to keep this art-oriented and change it from pissed to not so pissed, I went to the Chinese markets and Japanese market and bought me some candies and stuff. I think I buy most of those Asian candies and such because the packaging is just so “kawaii (cute).” I mean it’s made to catch the eye and keep it and get those little asian kids to go “Okasan!!! (Mother) I want Okashi!!! (candy)” 😀 So yeah I bought a lot of that due to the prettiness of the packaging and past experience with some of the brands and candies. I have to say the Japanese know how to make candy awful purty like. 😀

I’m going back to sleep. I’m cranky and tired and I have nothing else going on today. That WineStyles thing was my big event and it was a bust. 😦

  • Seems like nobody’s taken the bai… I mean uhm donated to my site recently. ;P So no winners in the Virtual Tip Jar drawing again. I guess it will take a while for people to come and visit and stick around. I’m still working on updating the site to be more interactive. I just have very limited skills when it comes to Web design. I can do basic HTML but no CSS or anything fancy like java. When I do have java, I get those free scripts and make them do what I want. I don’t get the annoying ones though.

So another month and no free buttons to anyone. I guess you guys and girls are missing out.

If you want a button though, contact me. I can make most anything into a button and sell it to you.

  • Hana no Otona postage stamp

This is supposed to be the “last” of our art shows at WineStyles for the year. I’m hoping to print out some stuff tomorrow night if I can get Printshop to act nicely. It’s been stupid since I tried to install the newer copy. I thought I had it all fixed and it’s being a dork. I try and add text, it promptly crashes. 😛 I really like the program if I can get it to work. I bought an updated copy but it was just way too much to install so I uninstalled and put in the old one and now the old one is being an idiot. I’m so dependent on that stupid program. I should break down and get Publisher but not sure if I have to get Office with it too. The University sells it for cheap but I’m still leery about having to get Office with it. I really just need certain stuff like PowerPoint and maybe Publisher… I really don’t have a need for Word or Excel at the moment much less something like Access.

I want to print out Christmas type cards on my paper. I have lots of greeting card paper and those 4 fold cards and such. I want to make some little sets off the computer and then sell them at WineStyles. I may even do some stickers and envelopes. I’m trying to figure out what I want to do with it. I only have till Saturday and my computer is being an idiot.

I’m still a little tiffed I did all these new stamps for the Zazzle shop I have and then found out it made them all “private” products. 😡 I wanted them public and it said “sell in shop” so I thought I was doing it the right way. The updates to their site makes everything more confusing with all the changes. Plus they were down a whole day on Tuesday and part of Wednesday getting it updated. At least now they have the option you can change your profit margin from 10% up to 50% of the price. They also have a “remove product” option so if you want to get rid of something, you can! No more mailing item numbers to their support team. Talk about making things hard and now they finally they have it semi user friendly and easy as well as more profitable. 😀

Zazzle also has a sale right now for their stamps.

    Free Shipping on Custom Postage!

Enter code FREESHIPSTMP at checkout for free shipping on three or more sheets (sheets of 20)

I’m going to have to redo all those stamps I did for the public shop. I think the problem was their picture server was down or busy and I went the other way around to make the items. If I could have gone the regular way, I’d have had all these new stamps in my store. 😛

So that’s it I guess. I need to redo those stamps so I can take advantage of the holiday season coming up. I just wish I could change private items to public. Would be useful. 😛

  • I don’t know what it is… maybe I’m just realizing I like hands on sorts of things and I miss that but I went to this Jewelry local meetup on Sunday and OMG!!! … I just so want to do this now! I went home and rested and did laundry and then got online and looked up all sorts of things concerning patterns and ways to do the Peyote Stitch. I had alot of fun learning that stitch and the instructor let us take the needles and such home after the lesson, so that was cool. I can actually practice. 😀

I’m just a bit disappointed with the designs I found online. They’re like bad bitmap images done in MSPaint. I was like “eeeew” I wouldnt’ make much less wear that design if I was paid to. A few patterns were really well done but I need to make my own stuff once I figure out how to get better and just get me a space to work in. I think I could make some cash off this if I tried. Maybe do some D’ni based designs or something. 😀

I’m going to look up beading online. See what sorts of beads they have and colors. I’m feeling a bit excited about looking stuff up about beading today. Not sure why. LOL

  • An online acquaintance of mine, Michael Penner wrote me today. Apparently he’s posted on Craig’s list about his new endeavor to help those who like Sci-fi (Science Fiction) writing and artistry get together with other likeminded people. He’s come up with a new site for those who would like to openly share, critique and otherwise join in the creation of new Sci-fi novels and art. The site is called “Nova Minds.”

I think it’s a great idea. I know in the past he wanted to have a place for people to post their art and stories for our own fan community if not beyond. He got busy as everyone does and now he’s been able to get back to his original idea to help share artistry and writings online. Those of us in the Myst fan community remember his association with both Cyan Worlds and Gordon Currie during the “Rivenguild” era. Mike created a number of fan songs that people still associate with Myst and those early days when URU wasn’t even yet in beta. He also posted quite a bit of 3D art on his old site back in the day. Those were good days. 😀

I’ll post a link to the associated sites for Nova Minds on my blogroll soon and art site.

That’s all the news for now!

  • Japanese Pagoda 2007

No this is not the rage felt by a passionate artist upon finding their nearly finished work of art has been destroyed by a careless child, guest, pet etc etc…

Instead, this is the name of a shareware program you can use for free or buy called “Art Rage.” It’s actually very reminescent of Painter classic. I heard about this program again and went to their site and downloaded the shareware version. It’s very versatile and easy to use. I really like the feel that you are painting or using pastels or even air brushing. It’s a good little program to draw or doodle in. 😀

  • I’ve posted some new shots from my camera at Flicker and Photobucket.

Check out the picture of the shelf fungi. I don’t know why but ever since I saw my brother carry some boombox sized pieces off a dead tree back to our old house we used to live in, I just always thought they were cool. I mean these things were like major! The ones in the picture don’t compare to the gigantic specimens my brother found back then.

I’m also a big fan of lichens if they’re pretty enough. I’ve gotten some nice pics of them around the dead tree in the apt complex and also from the campus when we could actually access the trees. I’ll have to find the pics and post them at Flickr. They’re really cool!

    Anyhow, Enjoy!

  • I’m a huge fan of CGI type cartoons if they’re well made. My current fave which I found on Youtube is called “Minuscule.” It’s one of the cuter and better put together CGI cartoons I’ve seen combining real film with computer created creatures.

All the creatures in the short films are insects. The stories take a photograph out of an insect’s day and show what it might be like to be a spider, centipede or other creepy crawlie. The stories are told w/o much more than mood music, background sounds and some minor enhanced “sounds” from the critters themselves. Most of the instances tend to be rather ironic or a kind of “ah ha!” sort of moment when you get to the end.

One of my current faves for this series can be found here.

I also have a playlist of these as I find them on Youtube bookmarked under my userprofile there. I have a great many playlists of all sorts. Check out the playlists marked “Robot Carnival” and “Minna no Uta” if you like Anime. I especially like “starlight angel” from Robot Carnival and “Uchuhikoushino Uta (the astronaut’s song)” from Minna no Uta.

I guess that’s all for now. Check out my links for more stuff as I find it.
