Whimsical Illustrations by LDG

  • I had forgotten I wrote a little something in 2007 about where to sell and buy your art online. I guess I should update for the sites I currently use.

Zazzle – Still a very good place to upload and sell your art without any upfront costs. Lots of options from stickers, tees, bandanas, prints, gift bags and more. They have online options for customers to get some cards in E-format. You make a sale but a bit less than the physical cards.

Threadless – Free to upload your art to sell on various things from tees to socks and prints. They have contests too for those who like to design. You can win some good money there. I haven’t personally won any of the contests but some of the winning designs are impressive.

OpenPrints – I don’t hear much talk about them, and I haven’t made any sales from there but they are a free site mostly for selling prints. Would be nice if you want to buy prints affordably to sell yourself.

Imagekind – You can sell your art on prints, framed art, canvas and greeting cards. Free to set up.

Fine Art America / Pixels – Free to join at the basic level. Limited to about 10 to 20 free listings. Prints, canvases, greeting cards and more to add your art to.

Greeting Card Universe – Free to join, no upfront fees. Customers send requests to site about what they want in a greeting card. It gets listed on the forum for members to see. If you want to make a design for the idea, you create it to place in your shop then add the link on the forum post, the customer gets to pick which one(s) they like and the site owners let you know if you were picked or not. Meanwhile, any card designs you make that are approved can be added to your own individual card store. You can also make custom items if someone contacts you directly. Payment is every 3 to 4 months if you make $25 or more. Minimum earned per card is usually around 10 cents a sale.

Redbubble – Free to join. No limit on designs. Lots of options with stickers, tees and more.

Avery – The company most recognize as making printable sheets for your printers, they have an online shop to buy your art. I took part in a promo for 10 huge stickers (6 inches I think) and they came out BEAUTIFULLY! So if you need some good custom printing, this is your place.

I have no affiliate links for these sites unless you want to visit my personal pages to buy my art. I’d be ever so grateful. 🙂 https://linktr.ee/elledeegee

    Thanks for reading.

  • If you are a member of Deviantart or have roamed the net, you may have seen a “design the dew” bottle link. I don’t think the “Official” site is actually doing any sort of contest but I know it lets you design a bottle for fun. Deviantart is letting members created a memorable and unique bottle design. They have good prizes too. 😀 I’ve already submitted several designs you can see here. If you are a member, please look at my designs. If you submit one, let me know and I will look at yours. I don’t know if votes and traffic help as it says they have judges so popularity may not play a part in the contest. Still I’d like to get opinions on my entries if you have a moment.

Oh just one thing… if you are under 18 or are sensitive to certain things… this site may not be for you. My area is Rated G… but other areas can be a bit more “mature” which is unfortunate if you decided to look around for something normal. Just a friendly warning and FYI.

  • I managed to make a Lucky Peach design for a Chinese New Year card I wanted to make. Let me know what you think. 😀

    In association with Zazzle.com

I’m also proud of this design because of the following:

    • I digitally painted the peach in my vector program. 😀
    • I made the silvery looking gradient myself. I needed one as the program only came with what they called “sandy” but I call a “gold” gradient. (Now to figure out how to save the new gradient and take it home with me. 😀 )

So that is my new creation for the day. Took me a few hours as I started before 4 pm and ended it around 9. I did it inbetween walks, chores, breaks and other stuff I have to do at work. Let me know how you like it. 😀

  • I have two new designs for Chinese New Year’s at my Zazzle shop.

In association with Zazzle.com In association with Zazzle.com

The first is a Lucky Crane with the FU (Chinese for Luck) symbol upside down (supposedly luckier that way from what I read online) and a Lucky Rabbit faux gold leaf card with the same background. I’m guessing FU is like the equivalent of the “Lucky Horse Shoe” over a door. Apparently they post images of the FU just to have it there for luck.

I’m hoping to make more of this style with different designs. The faux gold leaf coloring I think gives it a more elegant look. Please feel free to let me know what you think of my designs. I don’t get much feedback and I’d love to see what people think. Requests are always welcomed. 😀

DON’T FORGET… Until October 31st you can get “FIVE FREE” greeting or note cards through Zazzle. You only pay shipping and tax. This is a great way to see what designs work for your holiday or everyday greetings! Use Coupon Code: 5FREECARDS at checkout to get this deal!

  • My regularly updated personal blog is down for those that know about it. I’m waiting for an update from the owner since I pay for that one… don’t ask me why but I like it and it’s cheap. So anyhow… until he fixes it so it says I did indeed pay for 6 more months… I’m keeping an aged whine over at LJ for those that know about that account.
