2023 Where to Sell Your Art

December 20, 2023

I had forgotten I wrote a little something in 2007 about where to sell and buy your art online. I guess I should update for the sites I currently use.

Zazzle – Still a very good place to upload and sell your art without any upfront costs. Lots of options from stickers, tees, bandanas, prints, gift bags and more. They have online options for customers to get some cards in E-format. You make a sale but a bit less than the physical cards.

Threadless – Free to upload your art to sell on various things from tees to socks and prints. They have contests too for those who like to design. You can win some good money there. I haven’t personally won any of the contests but some of the winning designs are impressive.

OpenPrints – I don’t hear much talk about them, and I haven’t made any sales from there but they are a free site mostly for selling prints. Would be nice if you want to buy prints affordably to sell yourself.

Imagekind – You can sell your art on prints, framed art, canvas and greeting cards. Free to set up.

Fine Art America / Pixels – Free to join at the basic level. Limited to about 10 to 20 free listings. Prints, canvases, greeting cards and more to add your art to.

Greeting Card Universe – Free to join, no upfront fees. Customers send requests to site about what they want in a greeting card. It gets listed on the forum for members to see. If you want to make a design for the idea, you create it to place in your shop then add the link on the forum post, the customer gets to pick which one(s) they like and the site owners let you know if you were picked or not. Meanwhile, any card designs you make that are approved can be added to your own individual card store. You can also make custom items if someone contacts you directly. Payment is every 3 to 4 months if you make $25 or more. Minimum earned per card is usually around 10 cents a sale.

Redbubble – Free to join. No limit on designs. Lots of options with stickers, tees and more.

Avery – The company most recognize as making printable sheets for your printers, they have an online shop to buy your art. I took part in a promo for 10 huge stickers (6 inches I think) and they came out BEAUTIFULLY! So if you need some good custom printing, this is your place.

I have no affiliate links for these sites unless you want to visit my personal pages to buy my art. I’d be ever so grateful. 🙂 https://linktr.ee/elledeegee

Wanna make your own “fabric” designs?

April 15, 2009

I’m the kind of internet user who makes really different searches like “Japanese Scrapbooking” on Google to see what comes up. My main reason behind this seemingly odd “Asian” oriented search online was to find freebees like images and pictures they give away for use by visitors who patronize the site.

While searching on this particular subject of scrapbooking from Japan, I found a neat site called “Spoonflower.” They are a company out of North Carolina and  currently in beta. They are what you might call a “diy” online fabric shop. So instead of going to say a box store and buying someone’s random fabric design, you can upload your own designs and have them randomized so that it creates a neat design. You could even just do a single repeat so it shows up enough per yard to make a doll design or puppet.

At the moment they do not let members sell to others for profit but on their site they do state they hope to allow that in the future. You can even get a swatch of fabric with your design to see how it would work for about $5.  I’ve already added a few designs.

Check it out. It’s a neat site and I’ve already found some really nice designs by other people.

Thinking about Business Cards?

February 16, 2009

Since someone I know was talking about business cards the other day, I told her of some places I have gotten cards at to help her out.

Zazzle.com
They have the best deal in that you can choose the size of the card (mini, business, chubby.) If you’re a shopkeeper, you get an automatic discount (usually your royalty rate) + shopkeeper / member deals. It’s free to join, you can put whatever you want on your card (front & back) and right now it’s 50% off any size pack if you buy before Feb 28th, 2009. You can choose from either your own designs (being a shopkeeper / member) or choose from the myriad designs myself and other artists have placed in our shops. It’s a win win either way! Each pack of cards comes in a small plastic, opaque case with the zazzle logo on it. The profile cards come in a gum style pack that flips them out manually like a stick of gum. For 20 profile cards it’s around $8 bucks; 100 business-sized cards go for about $19; 100 Chubby cards go for about $22;

Moo.com
When I first went to Moo, it was a few years ago so their choices weren’t as varied as they are now. I got the mini profile cards but now they have business-sized cards as well as books of mini stickers and even postcards! You can even get a fancy felt, leather or hard cover case for your cards to carry them in style from the same place. With the mini profile cards, I got 100 of them in a little box with the Moo logo. It’s handy and the cards are small enough to fit anywhere. I keep mind in my camera case with the digital camera since I always have it with me. For 100 profile cards it’s about $20 bucks.

Vista Print
Great products for a cheap price. I spent around $20 + dollars and received a good sized package of personalized “free” items. Among these were: notepads, sticky notes, stamper (some assembly required), a large box of biz cards (use their template or you pay extra) and 10 magnetic 2008 calendars. Overall the quality was pretty good and the stamper especially works like a charm! It’s a cheap way to get started with your business if you need to get cards, stationary or a stamper with your info on it.
